Matthew 3:13-17 - The Baptism Of Jesus

¹³ Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. ¹⁴ I need to be baptized by you, John said. Why are you coming to me?

¹⁵ Jesus answered emphatically: This is the proper way to do everything that God requires. This is the way it must be!

¹⁶ Then Jesus was baptized and came up from the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened. He saw God's Spirit coming down like a dove. ¹⁷ Then a voice from heaven said: This is my Son whom I love and whom I have approved.

⁹ Soon Jesus came from Nazareth in the province of Galilee. John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. ¹⁰ When Jesus came out of the water he saw the heavens open and the Spirit descended on him like a dove. ¹¹ Then a voice came from heaven: You are my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

²¹ When all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. He prayed and heaven was opened. ²² Holy Spirit descended upon him in a bodily form like a dove. A voice came out of heaven. He said: You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.
