1 Chronicles 5:1-10 - The Descendants Of Reuben

¹ The sons of Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: for he was the eldest. But because he defied his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, and so he is not reckoned unto the birthright. ² For unto Judah which was mighty among his brethren, was given the principality before him. But the birthright was given Joseph. ³ The sons then of Reuben the eldest son of Israel, were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. ⁴ The sons of Joel: Shemaiah, and his son Gog, and his son Shimei, ⁵ and his son Micah, and the son of him was Reaiah, and his son was Baal, ⁶ and Beerah was his son. Which Beerah, Tilgathpilneser, king of Assyria, carried away: for he was a great lord among the Reubenites. ⁷ But unto his brethren in their kindreds, when they are reckoned after their birth, were Jeiel and Zechariah the chief heads. ⁸ And Bela the son of Azaz the son of Shema the son of Joel, dwelt in Aroer and so forth unto Nebo and Baalmeon. ⁹ And eastward he inhabited until the wilderness, even upon the river Euphrates, for their cattle was much in the land of Gilead. ¹⁰ And in the days of Saul they warred with the Hagrites which were overthrown by their hands. And they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.
