Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

¹³ And He goeth up into the mountain, and called to Himself those whom He wished. ¹⁴ And He appointed twelve [whom He also named apostles], that they might be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, ¹⁵ and to have authority to cast out demons.

¹⁶ And to Simon He added the name Peter; ¹⁷ and James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, (and He added to these the name "Boanerges," that is, "sons of thunder"); ¹⁸ and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean, ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And He cometh into a house.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that He went out into the mountain to pray; and He was spending the whole night in prayer to God. ¹³ And when it became day, He called His disciples; and, having selected twelve from them, (whom He also called apostles):

¹⁴ Simon whom He also called Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ and Matthew, and Thomas, and James son of Alphaeus, and Simon who is called Zelotes, ¹⁶ and Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot who became a betrayer;
