Mark 12:38-40 - Warning To Beware Of The Scribes

³⁸ And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, who love to go in long clothing and love the salutations in the marketplaces ³⁹ and the first chairs in the synagogues and the first seats at the suppers, ⁴⁰ which devour widows' houses and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater judgment.

⁴⁵ Then in the audience of all the people, he said unto his disciples, ⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes and love greetings in the markets and the first seats in the synagogues and the first places at suppers; ⁴⁷ who devour the houses of the widows and for a pretext make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
