Reference: Asuppim

Collections. The "house of Asuppim" was probably a storehouse in connection with the temple, 1Ch 26:15.

(1Ch 26:15,17, Authorized Version; but in Revised Version, "storehouse"), properly the house of stores for the priests. In Ne 12:25 the Authorized Version has "thresholds," marg. "treasuries" or "assemblies;" Revised Version, "storehouses."

("gathering".) Margin 1Ch 26:15,17. Not a proper name. From asaph, to "gather." The house of stores, where were kept the grain, wine, and other offerings for the sustenance of the priests. Near the S. door of the temple in the outer court; it had. two entrances, for 1Ch 26:19 states that two guard stations were assigned to it. In Ne 12:25 the same Hebrew is translated "thresholds," margin "treasuries," "assemblies."

Asup'pim

In 1Ch 26:15,17 the Hebrew word is given untranslated; but the same occurs in Ne 12:25, where it is translated 'thresholds,' and in the margin 'treasuries.' It probably refers to the apartments used as storehouses in the outer temple.

ASUPPIM, a word which signifies gatherings, and the name of the treasury of the temple of Jerusalem, 1Ch 26:15.
