This verb is used intransitively in 1Sa 18:11 'David avoided out of his presence twice.' So Coverdale translates Mt 16:23 'Auoyde fro me, Sathan.'
And Saul hurled the spear, for he thought, "I will pin David to the wall." But David evaded him twice.
But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man."
