("lord of Shalisha".) (2Ki 4:42; 1Sa 9:4). Not far from Gilgal, Baith Sarisain the Septuagint. The Onomasticon places it about 15 Roman miles N. of Lydda (Diospolis). The ruin Sirisia exactly corresponds to this; the fellahin often interchange "l" and "r." It lies in the low district, where, as the Talmud says, the fruits ripen early.
