For they came into the house as he slept on his bed in his resting chamber, and smote him and slew him and beheaded him and took his head and gat them away through the wild fields all night. And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David, to Hebron and said to the king, "Behold there the head of Ishbosheth Saul's son, thine enemy, which sought thy soul. But the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul and of his seed."

And sent and beheaded John in the prison,

But when Herod heard of him, he said, "It is John whom I beheaded, he is risen from death again."

And immediately the king sent the hangman and commanded his head to be brought in.

And Herod said, "John have I beheaded: who then is this of whom I hear such things?" And he desired to see him.

And I saw seats, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God: which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had taken his mark upon their foreheads, or on their hands: and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
