Beth-me'on
City of Reuben on the east of the Jordan. Jer 48:23. Apparently also called BAAL-MEON, BETH-BAAL-MEON, and BEON, Joshua 13: 17; Nu 32:3,38 (which says 'their names being changed'); 1Ch 5:8. Eze 25:9 speaks of it as a city that was 'the glory of the country.' Identified with the ruins at Tell Maain, 31 41' N, 35 44' E.
and Nebo and Baal-meon--their names being changed--and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal-meon.
therefore, behold, I am going to deprive the flank of Moab of its cities, of its cities which are on its frontiers, the glory of the land, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon and Kiriathaim,
