Reference: Causey

Hastings

This Eng. word was used in the original edition of AV in 1Ch 26:16,18, and in the margin of Pr 15:19 and Isa 7:3. It is now found only in Pr 15:19 marg., being changed in modern editions in the other places into causeway. The Heb. word is literally 'a raised way,' and is used of a public road, but never of a street in a city. The word 'causey' is still used in Scotland for the raised footpath by the side of a road or street.
