This spelling in modern editions of AV has replaced champion (De 11:30, Jdt 5:1) and champion (Eze 37:2 marg.) of the 1611 edition of AV. The word means an open plain.
"Are they not across the Jordan, west of the way toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry.
The word is arabah, De 11:30, and is elsewhere translated 'plain, desert, wilderness.' It is the wide valley in which the Jordan runs.
