In AV, apart from Sir 30:25, where it signifies 'food,' this word occurs only in Jer 52:34, where RV has the more correct 'allowance,' i.e. of food, as AV in the parallel passage 2Ki 25:30. In Jer 40:5 the same word is rendered 'victuals,' but Revised Version margin 'allowance.'
and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, a portion for each day, all the days of his life.
