Reference: Ensample

Hastings

Ensample' and 'example' (both from Lat. exemplum) are both used in AV. Tindale has 'ensample' only, and so all the Eng. versions until the Rhemish appeared. That version used 'example' probably as being nearer the Vulgate word exemplum. The AV frequently reveals the influence of the Rhemish version.
