This obsolete Eng. verb is found in Zec 1:21,1Ma 14:12 ('every man sat under his vine and his fig tree, and there was none to fray them'); and 'fray away' occurs in De 28:26; Jer 7:33, Sir 22:20 ('whoso casteth a stone at the birds frayeth them away'). It is a shortened form of 'afray,' of which the ptcp. 'afraid' is still in use.
"Your carcasses will be food to all birds of the sky and to the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.
"The dead bodies of this people will be food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth; and no one will frighten them away.
