Geshu'ri Geshurites. Geshu'rites
1. Inhabitants of Geshur. De 3:14; Jos 12:5; 13/11/type/HCSB'>13:11,13.
Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took over the entire region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites. He called Bashan by his own name, Jair's Villages, as it is today.
He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salecah, all Bashan up to the Geshurite and Maacathite border, and half of Gilead to the border of Sihon, king of Heshbon.
This is the land that remains: All the districts of the Philistines and the Geshurites:
also Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah-
but the Israelites did not drive out the Geshurites and Maacathites. So Geshur and Maacath live in Israel to this day.
