1. 1Ch 3:22. Lord A. Hervey identifies Shemaiah with Shimei, Zerubbabel's brother. Thus Hattush would be Zerubbabel's nephew. An Hattush "of the sons of David" (Ezr 8:2). An Hattush in Ne 12:2. The one and the same Hattush may be meant in all the passages. But the same name in the same family may be repeated in different generations; the Hattush in 1Ch 3:22 seems distinct from the Hattush of Ezr 8:2; Ne 12:2.

A descendant of David, who returned with Ezra from Babylon (Ezr 8:2 [read with 1Es 8:29 'of the sons of David, Hattush the son of Shecaniah']); see also 1Ch 3:22 (but if we accept the Septuagint reading here, a younger Hattush must be meant). In 1 Es. the name is Attus. 3. A builder at the wall of Jerusalem (Ne 3:10).
