A forest which was one of the hiding-places of David (1Sa 22:5). The reference may be to the wooded mountain E. of Adullam, where the village of Kharas now stands.
The prophet Gad said to David, "Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah." So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.
