A state which supplied 12,000 men to the children of Ammon to fight against David. 2Sa 10:6,8. In the margin it reads 'men of TOB.' It was to 'the land of Tob' that Jephthah fled from his brethren. Jg 11:3,5. It is supposed to be on the east of Jebel Hauran.
