It is the object of this article to give a brief account of St. John's teaching as contained in his Gospel and Epistles. Without prejudging in any way the authorship of the Apocalypse, it will be more convenient that the doctrine of that book should be considered separately. Enough if it be said here that, despite the obvious and very striking difference in the form and style of the book, the underlying similarities between it and those to be now considered are no less remarkable. Careful students, not blinded by the symbolism and other peculiarities of the Revelation, who have concentrated attention upon its main ideas and principles, have come to the conclusion that if it did not proceed from the same pen that wrote the Gospel and Epistles, it belongs to the same school of Christian thought. The next day he seeth Jesus coming toward him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up,

And we know and believe the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that abideth in love, abideth in God, and God in him. Hereby is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God, whom he hath not seen?
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one who loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten of him.
For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;
And he is clothed in a vesture dipt in blood, and his name is called, The Word of God.
