youthful, a military chief in David's army (1Ch 11:37), called also Paarai (2Sa 23:35).

1Ch 11:37. Called "Paarai the Arbite" in 2Sa 23:35. Keil thinks the latter form, Kennicott the former, the correct one.

One of David's heroes (1Ch 11:37). In the parallel passage, 2Sa 23:35, the name is Paarai, who is called 'the Arbite.' It is impossible to decide with any confidence between the rival readings.

Na'arai

Son of Ezbai and one of David's mighty men. 1Ch 11:37. Perhaps, as in the margin, the same as PAARAI the Arbite in 2Sa 23:35.

Na'ara-i

(handmaid), one of the valiant men of David's armies.

In 1 Chron. he is called the son of Ezbai, but in

2Sa 23:35

he appears as "Paarai the Arbite." Kennicott decides that the former is correct. (B.C. about 1015.)
