Easton
sorcerer, the son of Aminadab, and prince of the children of Judah at the time of the first numbering of the tribes in the wilderness (Ex 6:23). His sister Elisheba was the wife of Aaron. He died in the wilderness (Nu 26:64-65). His name occurs in the Greek form Naasson in the genealogy of Christ (Mt 1:4; Lu 3:32).

And among these, was there not found a man of them who had been numbered by Moses, and Aaron the priest, - when they numbered the sons of Israel in the desert of Sinai. For Yahweh had said of them, They shall surely die, in the desert. And there was not left of them a man, save only, Caleb on of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.

Son of Amminadab, prince of Judah; assisted Moses and Aaron at the first numbering in the wilderness (1Ch 2:10; Ex 6:23; Nu 1:7). His sister Elisheba married Aaron. Salmon his son married Rahab after the fall of Jericho. First in the encampment, the march, as captain of Judah (Nu 2:3; 10:14; 7:12), and in offering for dedicating the altar; but third in order at the census (Nu 1:1-7); died in the wilderness (Nu 26:64-65). The sixth in descent from Judah, inclusive; David was fifth after him (Ru 4:18-20; Mt 1:4; Lu 3:32; 1Ch 2:10-12).

And so it was, that, he who on the first day, offered his oblation, - was Nahshon son of Amminadab of the tribe of Judah;
So the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah set forward first, by their hosts, and over his own host, was Nahshon, son of Amminadab;

Brother-in-law of Aaron (Ex 6:23) descendant in the 5th generation from Judah (1Ch 2:10 f.) and prince of the tribe of Judah (Nu 1:7; 2:3; 7:12,17; 10:14) mentioned as one of the ancestors of David (Ru 4:20,1 Cf. Ru 2:10 f.), and of Christ (Mt 1:4; Lu 3:32).
