An ancient city of the Canaanites, Ge 38:12-14; on the borders of Judah and Dan after the conquest, Jos 15:10; 19:43. It was for a long time subject to the Philistines, and Samson's wife was a Timnite, Jg 14:1-5; 2Ch 28:18. Its deserted site, now called Tibneh, lies three miles southwest of Zorah.
