store cities which the Israelites built for the Egyptians (Ex 1:11). (See Pithom.) Towns in which the treasures of the kings of Judah were kept were so designated (1Ch 27:25).
So they appointed taskmasters over them to afflict them with hard labor And they built for Pharaoh storage cities, Pithom and Raamses.
Now Azmaveth the son of Adiel had charge of the king's storehouses. And Jonathan the son of Uzziah had charge of the storehouses in the country, in the cities, in the villages and in the towers.
