You must speak to him and put the words in his mouth; I, even I, will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do.
And you must take this staff in your hand, with which you will do the signs."
You must say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the Lord, "Israel is my son, my firstborn,
“Don’t continue to supply the people with straw for making bricks, as before. They must go and gather straw for themselves.
Nevertheless, the fixed number of bricks, which they have been making heretofore, shall ye lay upon them, ye shall not diminish therefrom, - for idle, they are, on this account, it is that they are making an outcry, saying, We must go our way, we must sacrifice to our God.
The service must be made heavy on the men that they may labour on it, - and let them not pay regard to words of falsehood.
But he said: Idle, ye are - idle, on this account, are, ye, saying, We must take our journey, we must sacrifice to Yahweh.
Now get to work. No straw will be given to you, but you must produce the same quantity of bricks.”
The Israelite foremen saw that they were in trouble when they were told, "You must not reduce the daily quota of your bricks."
"Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt that he must release the Israelites from his land."
You must say whatever I command you; then Aaron your brother must declare it to Pharaoh so that he will let the Israelites go from his land.
Go to Pharaoh in the morning. Look, [he is] going out to the water, and you must wait to meet him on the bank of the Nile, and you must take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.
And you must say to him, 'Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, "Release my people that they may serve me in the desert, and, look, you have not listened until now."
Then called Pharaoh for Moses and for Aaron and said - Make entreaty unto Yahweh, that he take away the frogs from me and from my people, - and I must lot the people go that they may sacrifice to Yahweh.
And Yahweh said to Moses, "Start early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh. Look, [he is] going out to the water, and you must say to him, 'Thus says Yahweh, "Release my people so that they may serve me."
And Moses answered, "It is not mete so to do. For we must offer unto the LORD our God, that which is an abomination unto the Egyptians: behold shall we sacrifice that which is an abomination unto the Egyptians before their eyes, and shall they not stone us?
We must go a distance of three days into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God as He instructs us.”
Pharaoh said, "I will release you so that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the desert. Only you must not go very far. Do pray for me."
“As soon as I leave you,” Moses said, “I will appeal to the Lord, and tomorrow the swarms of flies will depart from Pharaoh, his officials, and his people. But Pharaoh must not act deceptively again by refusing to let the people go and sacrifice to the Lord.”
And Yahweh said to Moses, "Start early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh. Look, [he is] going out to the water, and you must say to him, 'Thus says Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, "Release my people so that they may serve me.
Make ye request unto Yahweh, and it shall be enough without there being any more thunderings of God, and hail, - and I must a let you go, and not again shall ye delay.
Pharaoh’s officials asked him, “How long must this man be a snare
Moses replied, “We will go with our young and our old; we will go with our sons and daughters and with our flocks and herds because we must hold Yahweh’s festival.”
Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship Yahweh. Even your families may go with you; only your flocks and herds must stay behind.”
Moses responded, “You must also let us have
Even our livestock must go with us; not a hoof will be left behind because we will take some of them to worship Yahweh our God. We will not know what we will use to worship Yahweh until we get there.”
Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month they must each select an animal of the flock according to their fathers’ households, one animal per household.
You must have an unblemished
You must care for it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then the whole community of Israel will kill it around sundown.
They must take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses where they eat them.
You must not eat any of it raw or boiled, boiled in the water, but rather roasted with fire, its head with its legs and with its inner parts.
Do not let any of it remain until morning;
Here is how you must eat it: you must be dressed for travel,
“This day is to be a memorial for you, and you must celebrate it as a festival to the Lord. You are to celebrate it throughout your generations as a permanent statute.
You must eat unleavened bread for seven days. On the first day you must remove yeast
And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
“You are to observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread because on this very day I brought your divisions out of the land of Egypt.
Yeast must not be found in your houses for seven days. If anyone eats something leavened, that person, whether a foreign resident or native of the land, must be cut off from the community of Israel.
You will not eat anything made with yeast; in all the places where you live you must eat bread made without yeast.'"
You must observe this event as an ordinance for you and for your children forever.
When you enter the land that the Lord will give to you, just as he said, you must observe this ceremony.
It must be eaten in one house; you must not bring any of the meat outside the house, and you must not break a bone of it.
The whole community of Israel must celebrate
If a foreigner resides with you and wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate;
When the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites,
For seven days you must eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there is to be a festival to the Lord.
Bread made without yeast must be eaten for seven days; no bread made with yeast shall be seen among you, and you must have no yeast among you within any of your borders.
So you must keep this ordinance at its appointed time from year to year.
then you must give over to the Lord the first offspring of every womb. Every firstling of a beast that you have -- the males will be the Lord's.
You must redeem every firstborn of a donkey with a flock animal, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. However, you must redeem every firstborn among your sons.
And it came to pass when Pharaoh had shown himself too hardened to let us go, then did Yahweh slay every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of men even unto the firstborn of beasts. For this cause, am, I, sacrificing to Yahweh whatsoever is born first, of the males, and every firstborn of my sons, must I redeem.
Moses took the bones of Joseph
“Tell the Israelites to turn back and camp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea; you must camp in front of Baal-zephon, facing it by the sea.
Then said they unto Moses, "Were there no graves for us in Egypt, but thou must bring us away for to die in the wilderness? Wherefore hast thou served us thus, for to carry us out of Egypt?
And Moses said to the people, "You must not be afraid. Stand [still] and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will accomplish for you today, because [the] Egyptians whom you see today you will see never again.
The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet.”
and he took off the wheels of their chariots, and made them drive heavily, - so that the Egyptians said - We must flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh, is fighting for them against the Egyptians.
For when they have a matter, they come unto me, and I must judge between every man and his neighbor, and must show them the ordinances of God and his laws."
And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.
Moses went up the mountain to God, and the Lord called
And the Lord told Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. They must wash their clothes
and they must be prepared for the third day, because on the third day, Yahweh will go down on Mount Sinai before the eyes of all the people.
You must set boundaries for the people all around, saying, 'Take heed to yourselves not to go up on the mountain nor touch its edge. Whoever touches the mountain will surely be put to death!
No hand will touch him -- but he will surely be stoned or shot through, whether a beast or a human being; he must not live.' When the ram's horn sounds a long blast they may go up on the mountain."
Yea, even the priests who do approach unto Yahweh, must hallow themselves, - lest Yahweh break in upon them.
And the Lord replied to him, “Go down and come back with Aaron. But the priests and the people must not break through to come up to the Lord, or He will break out in anger against them.”
You must not make gods of silver alongside me, nor make gods of gold for yourselves.
You must make for me an altar made of earth, and you will sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I cause my name to be honored I will come to you and I will bless you.
If you make me an altar of stone, you must not build it of stones shaped with tools, for if you use your tool on it you have defiled it.
And you must not go up by steps to my altar, so that your nakedness is not exposed.'
“These are the ordinances that you must set before them:
If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children belong to her master, and the man must leave alone.
then his master must bring him to the judges, and he will bring him to the door or the doorposts, and his master will pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.
If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has dealt deceitfully with her.
Or if he chooses her for his son, he must deal with her according to the customary treatment of daughters.
If he takes another wife, he must not diminish the first one's food, her clothing, or her marital rights.
"Whoever strikes someone so that he dies must surely be put to death.
If a person schemes and willfully
"Whoever strikes his father or his mother must surely be put to death.
"Whoever kidnaps someone and sells him, or is caught still holding him, must surely be put to death.
"Whoever treats his father or his mother disgracefully must surely be put to death.
"If men fight, and one strikes his neighbor with a stone or with his fist and he does not die, but must remain in bed,
if he gets up and walks around leaning on his cane, then the one who struck him shall be left [physically] unpunished; he must only pay for his loss of time [at work], and the costs [of treatment and recuperation] until he is thoroughly healed.
“When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod, and the slave dies under his abuse,
“When men get in a fight and hit a pregnant woman so that her children are born prematurely
If there is an injury, then you must give life for life,
“When a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave and destroys it, he must let the slave go free in compensation for his eye.
If he knocks out the tooth of his male or female slave, he must let the slave go free in compensation for his tooth.
"If an ox gores a man or a woman so that either dies, then the ox must surely be stoned and its flesh must not be eaten, but the owner of the ox will be acquitted.
But if the ox had the habit of goring, and its owner was warned, and he did not take the necessary precautions, and then it killed a man or a woman, the ox must be stoned and the man must be put to death.
If a ransom is set for him, then he must pay the redemption for his life according to whatever amount was set for him.
If the ox gores a male servant or a female servant, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver, and the ox must be stoned.
the owner of the pit must repay the loss. He must give money to its owner, and the dead animal will become his.
“When a man’s ox injures his neighbor’s ox and it dies, they must sell the live ox and divide its proceeds; they must also divide the dead animal.
Or if it is known that the ox had the habit of goring, and its owner did not take the necessary precautions, he must surely pay ox for ox, and the dead animal will become his.
"If a man steals an ox or a sheep and kills it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox, and four sheep for the one sheep.
But if the sun has risen, there will be bloodguilt for him. The thief [if he lives] must make [full] restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold [as a slave to make restitution] for his theft.
