And as these were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying.

But Jesus, knowing what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side,

“Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?

What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

“Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?

And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be.

And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.

I know what I shall do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.’

And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;

A ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was.

What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!”

When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.

for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.’

He *said to him, ‘By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?

I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

and they spoke, saying to Him, “Tell us by what authority You are doing these things, or who is the one who gave You this authority?”

And Jesus said to them, “Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

The owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’

So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

But Jesus looked at them and said, What then is this that is written:
The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the chief corner stone’?

They questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, when therefore will these things happen? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?”

When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

Then they said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

And he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”

For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent.”

And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened, began to return, beating their breasts.

But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.

And He said to them, What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad.

And He said to them, What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,

They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”

Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”

And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?”

And Jesus *said to her, Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.”

The Jews then said to Him, “What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?”

and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.

What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.

At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”

This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do.

Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”

So they said to Him, “What then do You do for a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work do You perform?

What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?

What is this statement that He said, You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”

Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?”

So they were saying to Him, “Who are You?” Jesus said to them, What have I been saying to you from the beginning?

So they *said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a prophet.”

So they said to him, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”

This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.

Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.

Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.

So they were seeking for Jesus, and were saying to one another as they stood in the temple, “What do you think; that He will not come to the feast at all?”

So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him.

Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?”

Some of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this thing He is telling us, A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I go to the Father’?”

So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is talking about.”

Why do you question Me? Question those who have heard what I spoke to them; they know what I said.”

Therefore Pilate went out to them and *said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

to fulfill the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die.

Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?”
