Let the evil-doer do worse and worse, let the base grow baser and baser, let the upright man be more and more upright, and the man who is holy be more and more holy."

For consider, brothers, what happened when God called you. Not many of you were what men call wise, not many of you were influential, not many were of high birth.

Many will say to me on that Day, 'Lord! Lord! Was it not in your name that we prophesied, and by your name that we drove out demons, and by your name that we did many mighty acts?'

You must not be afraid; you are worth more than a great many sparrows!

No one who loves father or mother more than he loves me is worthy of me, and no one who loves son or daughter more than he loves me is worthy of me,

But many who are first now will be last then, and many who are now last will be first.

For many will come under my name, and say, 'I am the Christ,' and many will be misled by them.

Many false prophets will appear, and many will be misled by them,

And the man who had received the five thousand dollars came up bringing him five thousand more, and said, 'Sir, you put five thousand dollars in my hands; here I have made five thousand more.'

And he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and he would not let the demons speak, because they knew that he was Christ.

There are many other things that Jesus did, so many in fact that if they were all written out, I do not suppose that the world itself would hold the books that would have to be written.

As the time drew near for the fulfilment of the promise God had made to Abraham, the people became more and more numerous in Egypt,

for with loud cries foul spirits came out of many who had been possessed by them, and many paralytics and lame people were cured.

But Saul grew more and more powerful, and bewildered the Jews who lived in Damascus by his proofs that Jesus was the Christ.
