Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the H1882 of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellers, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the H1882 of thy God which is in thine hand;

And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a H1882 to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the H1882 of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the H1882s of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

And whosoever will not do the H1882 of thy God, and the H1882 of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one H1882 for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

And the H1882 went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the H1882 so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the H1882 of his God.

Now, O king, establish the H1882, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the H1882 of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
