For because ye were not there at the first time, the LORD our God made a rent among us, for that we sought him not as the fashion ought to be." And the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to fetch the Ark of the LORD God of Israel.
But the priests were too few, and were not able to slay all the burnt offerings. Wherefore their brethren the Levites helped them till the work was ended, and until the priests were sanctified. For the Levites were purer-hearted to sanctify themselves then the priests.
