And a certain Jew, named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

And it came to pass, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, after passing through the upper districts, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples,


For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal?

As it respects Apollos my brother, I urged him much to go to you with the brethren, yet he was not at all inclined to go now; but he will go when he has a suitable time.

Conduct Zenas the lawyer, and Apollos on their journey with care, that nothing may be wanting to them.


For it has been made known to me concerning you, my brethren, by the family of Cloe, that there are contentions among you. I mean this: that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal? Who, then, is Paul? and who is Apollos? Ministers by whom you have believed, even as the Lord gave to each one. I planted, Apollos watered: but God made to grow.

And a certain Jew, named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. He was instructed in the way of the Lord; and, being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, knowing only the immersion of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him, and taught him the way of God more accurately. read more.
And when he wished to pass into Achaia, the brethren, exhorting him, wrote to the disciples to receive him. And when he had come, he gave much help to the believers, through the grace conferred on him. For, with great strength, he utterly confounded the Jews publicly, showing, by the Scriptures, that the Christ was Jesus.

For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal? Who, then, is Paul? and who is Apollos? Ministers by whom you have believed, even as the Lord gave to each one. I planted, Apollos watered: but God made to grow. read more.
So, neither he that plants nor he that waters is any thing: but God that makes to grow.


for you are yet carnal. For, since envy and strife and divisions are among you, are you not carnal, and do you not walk as men? For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal? Who, then, is Paul? and who is Apollos? Ministers by whom you have believed, even as the Lord gave to each one. read more.
I planted, Apollos watered: but God made to grow. So, neither he that plants nor he that waters is any thing: but God that makes to grow. But he that plants and he that waters are one; and each one shall receive his own reward, according to his own labor. For we are fellow-laborers for God: you are God's field, you are God's building.


For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Therefore, the law is holy, and the commandment, holy and just and good. Has, then, that which is good become death to me? It can not be. But sin, that it, might appear sin, was causing death to me through that which is good, in order that sin, through the commandment, might become exceedingly sinful. read more.
For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold into bondage to sin.

And I, brethren, was not able to speak to you, as to spiritual men, but as to those who are carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you were not then able to bear it; indeed, not even now are you able; for you are yet carnal. For, since envy and strife and divisions are among you, are you not carnal, and do you not walk as men? read more.

For I fear, lest when I come I shall find you not, such as I wish, and I shall be found by you not such as you wish: lest there shall be contentions, envies, excitements, strife, evil speaking, whisperings, party spirit, disorderly conduct: lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn over many of those who have already sinned, and have not repented of the uncleanness and lewdness and wantonness which they have committed.

Was Paul crucified for you? or were you immersed into the name of Paul?

For, in the first place, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are schisms among you, and I partly believe it: for there must be sects among you, that the approved may be made known among you.

for you are yet carnal. For, since envy and strife and divisions are among you, are you not carnal, and do you not walk as men? For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal?

For, in the first place, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are schisms among you, and I partly believe it: for there must be sects among you, that the approved may be made known among you.

Now, I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no schisms among you, but that you be perfectly united in the same mind, and in the same judgment. For it has been made known to me concerning you, my brethren, by the family of Cloe, that there are contentions among you. I mean this: that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ. read more.
Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were you immersed into the name of Paul?

But I praise you not in this, which I now mention, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse. For, in the first place, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are schisms among you, and I partly believe it: for there must be sects among you, that the approved may be made known among you. read more.
"When, therefore, you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord's supper; for each one, in eating, takes before another, his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
