In Him was Life; and the Life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a testimony, that he might testify concerning the Light, that all might believe through him. He was not the Light; but he came, that he might testify concerning the Light. He was the true Light That lighteth every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world knew Him not. He came to His own possessions, and those who were His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those believing in His name; who were born, not of bloods, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

For the salvation-imparting grace of God appeared to all men, teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and godly in the present age;

Now we, the strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbor in that which is good for his edification; for even Christ pleased not Himself; but, as it has been written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on Me." read more.
