[As for] you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise which he himself promised us: eternal life. These [things] I have written to you concerning the ones who are trying to deceive you. read more.
And [as for] you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you do not have need that anyone teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all [things], and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you reside in him. And now, little children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.

Then I would not be ashamed when I look to all your commands.

And the Lord Yahweh helps me, therefore I have not been put to shame; therefore I have set my face like flint. And I know that I shall not be ashamed;

And you will eat abundantly and be satisfied, and praise the name of Yahweh your God, who has dealt with you {wondrously}. My people {will never be ashamed}.

just as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion {a stone that causes people to stumble}, and {a rock that causes them to fall}, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame."

according to my eager expectation and hope, that I will be put to shame in nothing, but with all boldness, even now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether through life or through death.

But if [someone suffers] as a Christian, he must not be ashamed, but must glorify God with this name.

And now, little children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming.

Who is the liar except the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This person is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father [either]; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. [As for] you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. Now the one who has prepared us for this very [thing] [is] God, who has given us the down payment, the Spirit. Therefore, [although we are] always confident and know that [while we] are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-- for we live by faith, not by sight-- read more.
so we are confident and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore indeed we have as our ambition, whether at home [in the body] or absent [from the body], to be acceptable to him.

Everyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God. The one who remains in the teaching--this person has both the Father and the Son.

And now, little children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming.

Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither [can] you, unless you remain in me. "I am the vine; you [are] the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him--this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything. If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and dries up, and they gather them and throw [them] into the fire, and they are burned. read more.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. This one was in the beginning with God. All [things] came into being through him, and apart from him not one [thing] came into being that has come into being. read more.
In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. A man came, sent from God, {whose name was} John. This one came for a witness, in order that he could testify about the light, so that all would believe through him. That one was not the light, but [came] in order that he could testify about the light. The true light, who gives light to every person, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world did not recognize him. He came to his own [things], and his own [people] did not receive him. But as many as received him--to those who believe in his name--he gave to them authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a husband, but of God.
