And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days. But Baasha the son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against him, and slew him at Gibbethon a city of the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel lay at siege before Gibbethon. And it was the third year of Asa king of Judah, when Baasha slew him, and reigned in his stead. And as soon as he was king, he slew all the house of Jeroboam and left him nought that breathed, until he had put him clean out, agreeing unto the saying of the LORD which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite, read more.

Then came the word of the LORD to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, "Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of dust and made thee captain over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam and hast made my people Israel sin, to anger me with their sin: therefore I will make clean riddance of Baasha and of all his house, and will make his house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. read more.
And he that dieth of Baasha in the city, him shall dogs eat: and him that dieth in the fields, shall the fowls of the air eat." The rest of the deeds of Baasha, and what he did and his power, are written in the book of the histories of the kings of Israel. And Baasha fell on sleep with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son reigned in his stead. And thereto through the Prophet Jehu the son of Hanani, the word of the LORD came against Baasha and against his house, because of all the wickedness that he did in the sight of the LORD, in angering him with the works of his hands, that he should be like the house of Jeroboam, because he had killed Nabad.

In the thirty sixth year of the reign of Asa, came Baasha king of Israel against Judah and built Ramah - to the intent that he would let none that pertained to Asa king of Judah have passage in and out. Whereupon Asa fetched out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent it to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, and said, "There is a confederation between me and thee, and so was between my father and thine, wherefore I have sent thee silver and gold, that thou go and break thine covenant with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me." read more.
And Benhadad granted unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his army against the cities of Israel. And they beat Ijon, Dan, Abelmaim and all the store cities of Naphtali. And when Baasha heard that, he left building of Ramah and let his work cease. And then Asa the king took all Judah and carried away and stones and timber of Ramah wherewith Baasha was a-building: and he built therewith Geba and Mizphah.

Now the pit wherein Ishmael did cast the dead bodies of the men whom he slew because of Gedaliah, had king Asa caused to be made, for fear of Baasha the king of Israel, and the same pit did Ishmael fill with slain men.


And the LORD magnified Solomon on high, in the sight of all Israel, and gave him so glorious a kingdom as none of all that were kings before in Israel had.


Moreover, the LORD shall stir him up a king over Israel which shall destroy the house of Jeroboam in that day. And what is that, that is now in hand?

And his servant Zimri captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah drinking of strong drink, in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah. And Zimri came and smote him and killed him the twenty seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead. And as soon as he was king and sat his seat, he slew all the house of Baasha and left not a pisser against a wall. And thereto he slew all his kin and friends, read more.
and so Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD which he spake to Baasha through Jehu the Prophet; for all the sins of Baasha and sins of Elah his son, wherewith they sinned and made Israel sin, to anger the LORD of Israel with their vanities.
