Samuel said, "Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf." When they gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out in the Lord's presence. They fasted that day, and there they confessed, "We have sinned against the Lord." And Samuel [began to lead] the Israelites at Mizpah as [their] judge. When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, their rulers marched up toward Israel. Then Samuel took a young lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him. Brothers, pray for us also.
They pleaded with Samuel, “Pray to the Lord your God for your servants, so we won’t die! For we have added to all our sins the evil of requesting a king for ourselves.”
Pray for us; for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything.
Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
Finally, brothers, pray for us that the Lord’s message may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you,
