But I would not have you ignorant, my brethren, concerning those that are fallen asleep, that ye may not be grieved like others who have no hope: for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those, that sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him. For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep. read more.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

And immediately after the affliction of those days, the fun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the land mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming as on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory: and He will send forth his messengers with a trumpet of a loud voice, and they shall gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

But in those days, after that affliction, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light; and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers in the heavens shall be shaken; and then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds, with great power and glory. read more.
And He will then send forth his messengers, and will gather his elect together from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly things by Christ; according as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unblameable before Him in love: having before appointed us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ unto Himself, according to the good pleasure of his will; read more.
to the praise of his glorious grace, whereby He hath made us acceptable in the Beloved: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace; wherein He hath abounded towards us with the highest wisdom and prudence; having made known to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure, which He had before purposed in Himself: that in the dispensation of the fulness of times, He might reduce all things, both in heaven and on earth, under one head in Christ: even in Him, in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated to it according to the purpose of Him who effecteth all things after the counsel of His own will:

But of the times and seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you: for ye yourselves know full well, that the day of the Lord cometh like a thief in the night. And when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. read more.
But ye, my brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should seize you as a thief: ye are all children of the light, and of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep like others, but let us watch and be sober: for they, that sleep, sleep in the night; and drunkards are drunk in the night: but let us, who are of the day, be sober; putting on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we be awake, or asleep, we may live together with Him. Wherefore comfort one another, and edify each other, as indeed ye do.

But as to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto Him, we beseech you, brethren, that ye be not soon moved from your steadiness of mind, or troubled, neither by Spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from us, that the day of Christ is at hand.

who died for us, that whether we be awake, or asleep, we may live together with Him.

For when we were yet without strength, Christ died in due season for the ungodly. Whereas one would hardly die for a just man, though perhaps for a good man one might dare even to die. But God recommendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. read more.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from wrath through Him.

And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word tho' in much affliction, yet with joy of the holy Ghost. So that ye became examples to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. For the word of the Lord sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia; but also in every place your faith towards God is spread abroad, so that we have no need to say any thing of it. read more.
For they themselves declare concerning us what kind of entrance we had among you, and how ye turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God; and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivereth us from the wrath to come.
