For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as the others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so those who sleep in Jesus will God also bring with him. For this, we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede those who are asleep. read more.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory. And he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

But in those days after that affliction, the sun shall darken, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. read more.
And then shall he send his angels and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth unto the uttermost part of the heaven.

The God of gods, even the LORD, has spoken and convocated the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shined forth. Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. read more.
He shall convocate the heavens of above, and the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my merciful ones together unto me, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly things in Christ; according as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in charity; having marked out beforehand the way for us to be adopted as sons by Jesus Christ in himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, read more.
to the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he has made us accepted in the beloved; in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace, which has over abounded in us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself, that in the dispensation of the fulfillment of the times he might restore all things by the Christ, both those which are in heaven and those which are on earth, in him in whom likewise we have obtained an inheritance, having had the way marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. read more.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief. Ye are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health. For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain saving health by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him. Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do.

Now we beseech you, brethren, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together unto him, that ye not be easily shaken in understanding or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us, as if the day of Christ is at hand.

Let each one of us please his neighbour in that which is good, unto edification. For the Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of those that reproached thee fell on me.

The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. The merciful man of the earth is missing: and there is no one upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt each man his brother with a net.

For the Christ, when we were yet weak, in his time died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God increased the price of his charity toward us in that while we were yet sinners the Christ died for us. read more.
Then much more now justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath by him.

And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit: So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia. For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything. read more.
For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.
