Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you through prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Therefore I remind you that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the laying on of my hands.
And so he that had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, Lord, you delivered unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
But refuse profane and old wives' tales, and exercise yourself rather unto godliness.

According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us to glory and virtue:
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conduct and godliness,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
But refuse profane and old wives' tales, and exercise yourself rather unto godliness.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Neither give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which cause questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Know you that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father has not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. And Jesus said, Are you also yet without understanding? Do you not yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the drain? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man.
