Jehoahaz » Son of jehu and king of israel
And when Jehu was laid to rest with his fathers, they buried him in Samaria, and Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.
Tn the twenty third year of Jehoash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu was made king over Israel in Samaria, and continued seventeen years. And he wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD: for he followed the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nebat which made Israel sin, and departed not therefrom. Wherefore, the LORD was angry with Israel, and delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael all their days. read more.
But Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD heard him. For he had seen the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them. And therefore the LORD gave Israel a deliverer and they went out from under the hands of the Syrians. And the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before time. Nevertheless they departed not from the sin of the house of Jeroboam which made Israel sin, but walked therein. And there remained a grove also in Samaria still: But there were left of the people, to Jehoahaz, but fifty horsemen and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen - for the king of Syria had destroyed them and made them like threshed chaff. The rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all he did and his power are written in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. And Jehoahaz rested with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
