Admonition » Who should be admonished
If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of him. Have nothing to do with him so that he will feel ashamed. Yet, don't treat him like an enemy, but warn him like a brother.
Associations » Good » General references to good company
I am united with all who fear you, and with everyone who keeps your precepts.
This is how you will walk in the way of good men and will keep to the paths of the righteous.
Whoever keeps company with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.
But now I am writing to you to stop associating with any so-called brother if he is sexually immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunk, or a robber. You must even stop eating with someone like that.
