And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for I have seen God face to face, and my soul was saved.

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for I have seen God face to face, and my soul was saved.
And he blessed Joseph and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long unto this day,
He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and with his strength he overcame the angel; yea, he dominated the angel and prevailed; he wept and made supplication unto him; he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us; but the LORD is God of the hosts; the LORD is his memorial.

But the angel of the LORD did not appear any more to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the LORD. And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die because we have seen God.
