Therefore, of these men who have associated with us during the whole time in which the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the immersion of John till the day on which he was taken up from us, must one be appointed as a witness with us of his resurrection.

And we are witnesses of all that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew by hanging him on a tree. Him God raised up the third day, and caused him to appear, not to all the people, but to witnesses who were be fore appointed by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him, after he rose from the dead.

And he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

And this voice, which came from heaven, we heard when we were with him in the holy mount;

THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled concerning the Word of life; (the life also was manifested, and we have seen, and do testify, and declare to you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;) that which we have seen and heard, we declare it to you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Therefore, of these men who have associated with us during the whole time in which the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the immersion of John till the day on which he was taken up from us, must one be appointed as a witness with us of his resurrection. And they set apart two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias;

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, and said: What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they weighed to him thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought an opportunity to deliver him up.

Then Judas, who had delivered him up, when he saw that he was condemned, stung by remorse, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying: I have sinned in having delivered up innocent blood. They replied: What is that to us? You will see to that. And he threw down the money in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him up to them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him up.

And while he was yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. He that delivered him up had given them a sign, saying: The one that I shall kiss is he; hold him fast. And immediately he came to Jesus, and said: Hail, Rabbi! and kissed him. read more.
Jesus said to him: Friend, for what purpose have you come? Then they came, and laid hands on Jesus, and held him fast.

Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was at hand. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. But Satan entered into Judas surnamed Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. read more.
And he went away, and conferred with the chief priests and the captains how he might deliver him up to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. And he consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them without tumult.

Jesus answered them: Have I not chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he was about to deliver him up, being one of the twelve.

Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come that he must go out of this world to his Father; and having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them to the end. And supper being over, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to deliver him up,

When Jesus had spoken these things, he went out with his disciples beyond the brook Kedron, where was. a garden, which he and his disciples entered. And Judas, who delivered him up, also knew the place, because Jesus often went thither with his disciples. Judas, then, having received the band of soldiers and attendants from the chief priests and Pharisees, came thither with torches and lamps and weapons. read more.
Then Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and said to them: Whom do you seek? They answered him: Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus said to them: I am he. Judas, also, who delivered him up, was standing among them.

And immediately, while he was yet speaking, came Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude, with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. And he that delivered him up had given them a sign, saying: The one that I shall kiss, is he; take him, and lead him away securely. And when he came, he immediately went up to him and said: Rabbi, Rabbi, and kissed him.

And while he was yet speaking, behold a multitude; and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and came near to Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said to him: Judas, do you deliver up the Son of man with a kiss? When those who were about him saw what would be done, they said to him: Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

And Judas, who delivered him up, also knew the place, because Jesus often went thither with his disciples. Judas, then, having received the band of soldiers and attendants from the chief priests and Pharisees, came thither with torches and lamps and weapons. Brethren, it was necessary for this scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit had before spoken by the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who was a guide to those who took Jesus: for he was numbered with us, and had been appointed to this ministry. Therefore he purchased a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. read more.
And it was known to all that dwelt in Jerusalem, so that the field is called, in their own language, Akeldama, that is, The field of blood. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell in it, and, His office let another take. And in those days Peter arose in the midst of the disciples, (the number of the names together was about a hundred and twenty,) and said: Brethren, it was necessary for this scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit had before spoken by the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who was a guide to those who took Jesus: for he was numbered with us, and had been appointed to this ministry. read more.
