For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And burneth unto the lowest Sheol, And devoureth the earth with its increase, And setteth on fire the foundations of the mountains.
but I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?
But who can abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap:
For Jehovah thy God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them.
Kerioth » Also called kirioth » A city of moab
and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;
Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.

Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shall evil befall a city, and Jehovah hath not done it?
And I set watchmen over you,'saying , Hearken to the sound of the trumpet; but they said, We will not hearken.
For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war?
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage; Neither believeth he that it is the voice of the trumpet. As oft as the trumpet'soundeth he saith, Aha! And he smelleth the battle afar off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:
They have blown the trumpet, and have made all ready; but none goeth to the battle; for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
