O daughter of my people, gird thee
with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for
an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.
Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem
, and cast it
away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
In that day shall one
take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and
say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it
from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
