And there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night: and lo, an angel of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them, and they were greatly terrified: and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people, read more.
that this day is born, in the city of David, your Saviour Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign to you, Ye shall find the child wrapped in swaddling bands lying in a manger. And on a sudden there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will towards men. And when the angels went from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us go to Bethlehem, and see this which hath been told us, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with speed, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger: and when they had seen it, they divulged what had been told them concerning this child: and all that heard it, were amazed at the things which were related to them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured up all these words, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things which they had heard and seen, according as it had been told unto them.
