But Jesus answered them: My Father works till now, and I also work. For this reason, therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the sabbath, but also said that God was his own father, making himself equal with God. Then Jesus answered and said to them: Verily, verily I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; for whatever things he does, these also the Son does in like manner.
and I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall take them out of my hand. My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to take them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
