And he said to them, Who among you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, let me have three loaves, since a friend of mine on a journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him;


Now Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.



And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord, but first allow me to bid adieu to those at my house.


And as he lingered, the men laid hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, Jehovah being merciful to him; and they led him out, and set him without the city.


And as he reasoned concerning righteousness, and temperance, and the judgment about to come, Felix, being filled with fear, answered, Go for the present, and when I get an opportunity I will send for thee;


And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, and some said, We will hear thee again also concerning this.


the work of each shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire shall try the work of each what it is.

If the work of any one shall be consumed, he shall suffer loss, but he shall be saved, but so as through the fire.


thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents:

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden from you what is good.




He that passing by vexeth himself with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.


Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.


but if ye have bitter emulation and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Of these things put in remembrance, testifying earnestly before the Lord not to have disputes of words, profitable for nothing, to the subversion of the hearers.


For I fear lest perhaps coming I find you not such as I wish, and that I be found by you such as ye do not wish: lest there might be strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, evil speakings, whisperings, puffings up, disturbances;

For it has been shewn to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are strifes among you.


But brother prosecutes his suit with brother, and that before unbelievers.






And she said to Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid shall not inherit with my son with Isaac.

And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.

And there was a great clamour, and the scribes of the Pharisees' part rising up contended, saying, We find nothing evil in this man; and if a spirit has spoken to him, or an angel ...

How can I myself alone sustain your wear, and your burden, and your strife?


And nation was broken against nation, and city against city; for God disturbed them with all manner of distress.

lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; for a rumour shall come one year, and after that a rumour in another year, and violence in the earth, ruler against ruler.

But when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be not disturbed, for this must happen, but the end is not yet.

Then he said to them, Nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be both great earthquakes in different places, and famines and pestilences; and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.


he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and disputes of words, out of which arise envy, strife, injurious words, evil suspicions,



As coals for hot coals, and wood for fire, so is a contentious man to inflame strife.








Let not them that wait on thee, Lord, Jehovah of hosts, be ashamed through me; let not those that seek thee be confounded through me, O God of Israel.
