(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD, for ye were afraid by reason of the fire and did not climb the mount), saying,

And it came to pass on the third day when the morning came, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount and the voice of the shofar exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled.

And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die. Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness and saw the mountain that burned with fire that ye came near unto me, even all the princes of your tribes and your elders; and ye said, Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives. Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.


And he took the book of the covenant and read in the audience of the people, and they said, All that the LORD has said we will do, and we will hear.

And all the people answered together and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

But Gideon replied, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you; the LORD shall rule over you.

And when ye saw that Nahash, the king of the sons of Ammon, came against you, ye said unto me, No, but a king shall reign over us when the LORD your God was your king.

And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the rights, and all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words which the LORD has said we will do.

Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die. For what is all flesh that it should hear the voice of the living God that speaks out of the midst of the fire, as we heard, and live? Go thou near and hear all that the LORD our God shall say, and thou shalt tell us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it. read more.
And the LORD heard the voice of your words when ye spoke unto me, and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee; they have well said all that they have spoken. O that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always that it might be well with them and with their children for ever!

And he said, The LORD came from Sinai and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of holiness, at his right hand the law of fire for them. Yea, he loved the peoples; all his saints are in thy hand; they also united at thy feet; they received thy words. Moses commanded us law as inheritance unto the congregation of Jacob. read more.
And he was king in Jeshurun when the heads of the people, the tribes of Israel, were gathered together as one.
