For what then serves the law? It was added because of rebellions until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them, for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me and showing mercy unto thousands, to those that love me and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him innocent that takes his name in vain. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God has commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. Thou shalt not murder. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field or his manslave or his maidslave, his ox or his ass or any thing that is thy neighbour's. These words the LORD spoke unto all your congregation in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice, and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone and delivered them unto me.

And he took and put the testimony into the ark and set the staves on the ark and put the seat of reconciliation upon the ark above,
And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, the ten words; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount and wait there, and I will give thee tables of stone and the law and commandments which I have written to teach them.
And he gave unto Moses, when he finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

And it came to pass, as Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, while he came down from the mount, that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone after he had talked with him.

And it came to pass on the third day when the morning came, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount and the voice of the shofar exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled.
And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die. Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness and saw the mountain that burned with fire that ye came near unto me, even all the princes of your tribes and your elders; and ye said, Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives. Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die.
