Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet neither shall you mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. And you shall do as I have done: you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, no birth, no pregnancy, no conception.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:
For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Therefore sheol has enlarged itself, and opened its mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that exults, shall descend into it.
For thus has the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
Also, you son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that upon which they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
There is a sound of the wailing of the shepherds; for their glory is in ruins: a sound of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of the Jordan is in ruins.
