The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

These are the generations of Shem. When Shem {was one hundred years old}, he fathered Arphaxad, two years after the flood. And Shem lived five hundred years after he fathered Arphaxad, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Arphaxad had lived thirty-five years, he fathered Shelah. read more.
And Arphaxad lived four hundred and three years after he fathered Shelah, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters.

The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech. And Arphaxad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber.

These are the generations of Shem. When Shem {was one hundred years old}, he fathered Arphaxad, two years after the flood. And Eber lived four hundred and thirty years after he fathered Peleg, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Peleg had lived thirty years, he fathered Reu. And Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he fathered Reu, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Reu had lived thirty-two years, he fathered Serug. And Reu lived two hundred and seven years after he fathered Serug, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Serug had lived thirty years, he fathered Nahor. And Serug lived two hundred years after he fathered Nahor, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Nahor had lived twenty-nine years, he fathered Terah. And Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he fathered Terah, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Terah had lived seventy years, he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran fathered Lot. And Haran died in the presence of Terah his father in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans. And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of the wife of Abram [was] Sarai, and the name of the wife of Nahor [was] Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah. And Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot, the son of Haran, {his grandson}, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. And they went to Haran, and they settled there. And the days of Terah [were] two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.

And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. And Cush fathered Nimrod; he himself began to be mighty on earth. And Mizraim fathered the Ludim, the Anamim, the Lehabim, the Naphtuhim, the Pathrusim, the Casluhim (from whence the Philistines descended), and the Caphtorim. And Canaan fathered Zidon his firstborn, and Heth, and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech. And Arphaxad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. And two sons were born to Eber: the name of the one [was] Peleg (for in his days the earth was divided), and the name of his brother [was] Joktan. And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Ebal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. Shem, Arphaxad, Shelah; Eber, Peleg, Reu; Serug, Nahor, Terah; Abram, that is, Abraham.

And Arphaxad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber. And to Eber two sons were born. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and the name of his brother [was] Joktan. And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these [were] the sons of Joktan. And their dwelling [place] {extended from} Mesha {in the direction of} Sephar [to] the hill country of the east. These [are] the sons of Shem, according to their families, according to their languages, in their lands, and according to their nations.

And Serug lived two hundred years after he fathered Nahor, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Nahor had lived twenty-nine years, he fathered Terah. And Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he fathered Terah, and he fathered [other] sons and daughters. When Terah had lived seventy years, he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran fathered Lot. And the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she gave birth to Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan: Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Midian: Ephah, Epher, Enoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these [were] the sons of Keturah. Abraham fathered Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel. The sons of Esau: Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek. The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. And the sons of Seir: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. And the sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam; and the sister of Lotan [was] Timna. The sons of Shobal: Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. The sons of Anah: Dishon. And the sons of Dishon: Hamran, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran. The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Jaakan. The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. These [are] the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the {Israelites}: Bela son of Beor, and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah. When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned in his place. When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites reigned in his place. When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the country of Moab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Avith. When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah reigned in his place. When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth-by-the-River reigned in his place. When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Achbor reigned in his place. When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad reigned in his place, and the name of his city [was] Pai. And the name of his wife [was] Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-Zahab. And Hadad died. And the chiefs of Edom were: chiefs Timna, Aliah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. These [are] the chiefs of Edom.
