Book Summary:

Habakkuk portrays Christ as the God of my salvation. The prophet declared the righteous will live by faith, which emphasizes the heart of the books message. This truth is echoed throughout the new testament – Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38. We shall not live by our works but the work of Christ on the cross, He has done it and we get to enjoy the new life which we now can live. This new covenant life is given to us as a gift, a new relationship we have in God, we just need to open our eyes to see it. In this new life we will be taken into many works which are a gift to us, abundant life produces works but because it is sourced in Christ, God gets all the glory for them.
